The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (Research Capacity) to join our team in a full time position in the section of Neuro Oncology. Columbia University Medical Centerâ€™s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. The Division of Hematology/ONC/BMT is dedicated to the care of patients with neuro-oncological cancers. A Novel Drug Delivery for Pediatric Brain Tumors Research Initiative has been recently launched at CUIMC and the successful candidate will be involved in managing a number of novel clinical studies. Within the Division of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology, the NP will be responsible for the coordination and administration of clinical research protocols from the CUIMC Novel Drug Delivery for Pediatric Brain Tumors Research Initiative, the Childrenâ€™s Oncology Group and other National and International Collaborative Groups performing Clinical Research in Pediatric Brain Tumors.
Screening prospective study participants
Obtaining informed consent and medical history
Coordinating study visits
Evaluations and procedures
Instructing participants about use of study products or drugs
Completing case report forms
Filing serious adverse event reports
Developing and overseeing a quality management plan
Preparation of regulatory documents for IRB submission
Attending staff meetings
Providing in-services with physicians, nurses and support staff about protocol requirements
Serve as a liaison between PIâ€™s and study sponsors in both outpatient and inpatient areas
Serves as a liaison with pharmacy and research pharmacy
All other duties as assigned
Requires a Bachelorâ€™s degree or equivalent in education and experience required plus four years of related experience.
Must have at least 3-5 years of previous related work experience in pediatrics.
Must Have NYS NP license and maintain and renew when necessary
Able to function independently with minimal supervision
Has excellent organizational and analytical skills and a high degree of flexibility
Has excellent written and oral communication skills
Light Level of Physical Activity Required
