Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative – Specialist Supervisor
The Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative has a Specialist Supervisor position available. The position serves as a senior research specialist developing and supporting academic research projects at BHHI including: writing grant proposals, reports, and peer reviewed publications; developing questionnaires and qualitative interview guides; designing, planning and executing qualitative and mixed method research studies; overseeing qualitative data coding and analysis; and providing staff trainings on research protocols and techniques. The Specialist will supervise two or more employees and will be responsible for full oversight for staffing, performance management, and daily operations. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities, and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training.
Qualifications: PhD in a social science or related field, and a track record of application of advanced qualitative, ethnographic, and mixed method research techniques or twenty or more years of equivalent experience; professional level experience developing questionnaires, interview guides, and other data collection tools; a substantial track record in writing grant applications and reports; record of academic accomplishments including significant contributions to published research and professional recognition in the field; professional level experience supervising staff; experience with Dedoose, Atlas.ti, or other qualitative analysis software packages; experience writing, executing and monitoring human subjects protocols and required approvals; and experience administering studies in accordance with human subjects regulations.
