Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Contract / Grant Specialist for the Office for Research. As part of the Office for Research, the Grant Specialist provides essential services to faculty and staff to ensure external support for their research, training and public service programs. Under the broad direction of the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, reviews all business aspects of the proposal for completeness and accuracy and is authorized to negotiate contract and grant terms and conditions with all non-corporate sponsors.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Submits proposals and performs other award-related actions electronically.
Reviews, negotiates and processes awards.
Issues and negotiates sub grants and subcontracts with corporate and non-corporate entities as requested by the Principal Investigator/Project Director and as approved by the Primary Sponsor of the sponsored projects.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a university grants / contracts office or academic department administrative office.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledgeable of major sponsor policies and procedures.
Familiarity with Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business software applications pertaining to grant applications.
Certified Research Administration (CRA)
Knowledge of electronic research administration programs pertaining to grants submissions and of federal procurement regulations, including both FAR and the DFAR.
