Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Work Assistant for the Education and Training department within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Work Assistant position is to conduct research investigation into biology of cancer under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists in the conduct of research experiments to understand biology of cancer as assigned.
Attends workshops, seminars, lectures and career development activities associated with the Rutgers Youth Enjoy Science program.
Assists in packing, unpacking, storage and maintenance of lab supplies and materials.
Prepares stock solutions and buffers.
Assists with the maintenance of the laboratory facilities, equipment, and instruments.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Undergraduate student who wishes to prepare for STEM career, preferably biomedical research.
For undergraduate students, enrollment as an undergraduate major in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with coursework in biology, genetics, biochemistry/molecular biology.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Performance of laboratory research.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties.
