The Cedars-Sinai Infectious and Immunologic Diseases Research Center (IIDRC), the Pediatrics department, and the Arditi Lab are seeking a Post-doctoral Research Scientist, for an NIH-funded cardiovascular research! We are led by Moshe Arditi, MD, Director of the IIDRC, and investigate immunity and host-pathogen interactions as they relate to acute and chronic inflammatory diseases, with a focus on the cardiovascular inflammation and lung inflammation/injury and gut microbiome as well as gender differences. Our team investigates the immunobiology of the cardiovascular lesions in the Kawasaki Disease vasculitis mouse model as well as abdominal aorta aneurysm and atherosclerosis mouse models. We also investigate the basic mechanism of NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and IL-1beta production. Finally, the laboratory also investigates host-pathogen interactions in acute lung infection and injury models, as well as the role of pathogenic Th17 cells in inflammatory bowel disease models and in various autoimmune disease models.

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with Principal Investigator(s) and other Research Scientists, the Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and intricate cellular, molecular biology experiments. Will develop, adapt, learn and coordinate new research techniques and protocols. Will analyze, interpret and present research data. Will participate in manuscript preparation and publications and abstract presentations as author or co-author.
Design and execute experiments and will keep appropriate experimental records and documentation and evaluate the results with the Principal Investigator.
Analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and composing data.
Operating and maintaining equipment and instruments.
Experience in microscopic imaging and mouse dissection in handling mice, including genotyping and breeding are strongly preferred.
Assisting and coordinating publications and ad abstract preparations.
Preparation and coordination of grant proposals and encouraged to apply for fellowship grants.
Doctorate (PhD) in Immunology, Immunobiology and areas directly related to field of research specialization.
Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
Strong background and experience in cellular and molecular Biology and/ Immunology, as well as strong experience with experimental murine models of cardiovascular diseases.
