The Outreach Coordinator and Mental Health Counselor has the primary responsibility to provide leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of culturally inclusive and innovative mental health outreach to all students. As with all Counseling Services staff, this position will provide direct mental health counseling services (diagnostic, assessment, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapy) to all Le Moyne College students but with a specific focus on both underrepresented students and first-generation students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides individual, and group psychotherapy to a broad range of students from undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional student populations
Provides crisis intervention to students experiencing emotional crisis
Provides emergency on-call services to students in crisis and/or consultation with other college personnel on a rotating basis
Provides case management, collaboration with key personnel, and continuity of care, including referrals to community providers
Develops and initiates culturally sensitive outreach, prevention and wellness programming for a diverse range of student concerns and issues
Develops and initiates education and training programs for faculty, staff, and administrators as partners in the wellbeing of all students
Provides culturally responsive care and will collaborate with campus and community partners to engage in meaningful advocacy, psycho-educational outreach, and clinical intervention designed to promote student success and well-being.
Demonstrates evidence of training, expertise, commitment, and sustained engagement in working with historically underrepresented students towards their personal development, well-being, and academic success, through culturally responsive individual, group and community interventions.
Masters' degree, (MSW, LMHC) or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Counselor Education from a CACREP or APA accredited program, or closely related field, required.
License to practice mental health in New York State, required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing direct mental health services, required.
Experience in providing brief, solution focused psychotherapy, required.
Experience in working with historically underrepresented populations through culturally responsive individual, group and community interventions and should demonstrate knowledge and experience with underrepresented student populations such as BIPOC or LGBTQ students, required.
Experience in providing educational programming to large groups, required.
Clinical experience in a college counseling center setting is strongly, preferred.
A holistic, wellness philosophy and approach is preferred.
