Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSE:In accordance with the mission of Wayne State University and the Department of Athletics, assists in handling all logistics related to the operation of athletics facilities and the coordination and oversight of various athletic event operations. Assists with management of day-to-day set-up and breakdown of facilities for practices, competitions and special events, in compliance with the standards, rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Also assists with new Basketball Arena set up and breakdown for G-League and other professional teams renting facility. Reports to Manager.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assists with the planning, oversight and execution of the following: all National Collegiate Athletic Association athletic practices, games, event logistics; and conversion logistics; university related special events; and any ancillary special events or external events held on the Athletics Campus. Ensures facilities and equipment are configured in compliance with the standards, rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Also assists with the Pistons' G-League basketball set up and breakdown in new arena. Primary focus is currently outdoor facilities including Duchene, Harwell, and Tennis Courts.Coordinates University work orders (Facilities Planning & Management) and event requests (Parking) with multiple University Departments to include: Public Safety, Parking and Facilities, Planning and Management (custodial, grounds, trades, design and construction and building engineers); monitors progress thru completion. Additionally, performs regular inspections to determine needed maintenance, repairs, renovations and/or status of designated projects.Coordinates with and provides functional supervision to other facility staff and applicable game operations and building staff to include: full-time employees, students, work-study, interns and part-time staff, to effectively and efficiently communicate University and Department policies and procedures.Maintains and monitors facility operating accounts, expenses, and records (inventories, concessions and rentals). Assists with the coordination of facility maintenance agreements. May handle vendor negotiations. Processes and deposits cash in compliance with University policy. Assists with the coordination and communication of a master facility calendar encompassing all venues on the Athletics Campus. Constituents include: coaches, department staff, Intramural and Club Sports, University personnel and external users. Additionally, assists in the management of year-round Wayne State University camps and clinics.Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: Bachelor's degreeRequires a Bachelor's degree in sports management, athletic administration, business administration, exercise, kinesiology, fitness, physical education or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.EXPERIENCE: Requires 2 or more years of experience planning, coordinating and overseeing sports events as well as configuring and breaking down facilities and sports equipment in compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standards, rules and regulations for practices and competitions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:- Requires strong working knowledge and understanding of all National College Athletics Associations standards, and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.- Strong organizational and supervisory skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, delegating when necessary, and completing work within deadlines in a changing environment with multiple priorities.- Ability to communicate effectively with others, including excellent written and oral communications skills-Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office and Windows based systems, in addition to working knowledge in other programs (Adobe, Scheduling Software)
