Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Research Program Manager for the department of Medicine-Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School.
The Research Program Manager will be responsible for day to day oversight of clinical research network or project specific research activities and staff at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Clinical Research Center. The Research Program Manager will have leadership and regulatory responsibilities as well as protocol start-up and implementation. Assures that all clinical research conducted within the department is in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines as well as other applicable local, institutional and federal regulations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works collaboratively with research team and investigators and oversees staff to provide deliverables related to clinical research activities.
Maintains a current knowledge and understanding of Newark campus Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures and assures that research program activities are in compliance with such.
Oversees the startup and implementation of clinical research studies. Assures that all regulatory and sponsor requirements, as well as institutional requirements have been met prior to implementation of studies.
Conducts or oversees the training of research staff and the in-service education on new protocols and protocol amendments.
Assists as needed with oversight of contract and budget negotiation for clinical research projects, and facilitates interdepartmental and institutional communication with regard to clinical research activities.
Ensures that all study related goals including accrual and retention of study participants, quality management, etc. are met; provides reports and summaries of activities during meetings and as requested.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) licensed as an RN in the state of New Jersey, or a Master's Degree in a health-related field preferred.
At least five years of progressively responsible clinical research experience with federal and industry-sponsored work, the majority of which must be in HIV and other infectious diseases required.
Supervisory and team management experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have appropriate cultural sensitivity to work with diverse populations.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office components.
Master's Degree in a health-related field.
Professional credentials in clinical research (i.e. CCRC, CRC).
Thorough working knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines(GCP) with demonstrated protocol feasibility assessment, start up and implementation of phase I-IV interventional trials.
Experience in HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases, substance use disorders, or criminal justice settings.
NIH funded clinical trial management experience.
Participant management and community engagement experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
