Rutgers, the State University Of New Jersey is seeking an Epidemiologist for the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Department (Regional Epidemiology Program) within the School of Public Health.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Epidemiologist will work with the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) to conduct surveillance and investigation of diseases and provide epidemiologic support to local health departments (LHDs), health care facilities and other public health partners in New Jersey.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Participates in surveillance activities for the assigned disease management program.
Provides assistance and consultation to public health partners such as local health departments and health care facilities, especially during investigations.
Assists in responding to inquiries to the epidemiology program, including publication, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) summaries, and other venues.
Represents the program alongside other programs within the New Jersey Department of Health and other external stakeholder groups, including but not limited to local health departments, hospitals, schools.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master of Public Health (MPH) degree or related field plus two (2) years of experience in health or research.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience being a team player.
Proficiency in data management and statistical analysis programs (e.g., SAS, Excel, Access).
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for transportation is required.
Provides on-call coverage for Communicable Disease Services (CDS) after hours service on a rotating basis, as directed.
A concentration in Epidemiology.
Experience with communicable disease investigations or prevention.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Lifting of up to 10 pounds. Hearing is essential.
