The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse (RN) to join our team in a full time position. Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. Within the section of Pediatric Oncology, the Clinical Research Nurse (RN) will be responsible for the coordination, oversight and administration of clinical research protocols from the Children's Oncology Group (and other cooperative groups, as applicable). The division plays active roles in the Children's Oncology Group (COG) and Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia consortium. This position will report to the Principal Investigator, Director of Research, and Divisional Administrator for the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Blood Marrow Transplant (BMT).
Recruitment of patients to study
Screening prospective study participants
Obtaining informed consent and medical history
Coordinating study visits
Coordination of patient informed consents
Review and implement compliance measures for the studies
Clinical care and follow-up of research participants, including liaising with the clinical teams (in the outpatient and inpatient areas)
Preparation of regulatory documents for IRB submission
Assisting with the submission of study data and federal reporting of adverse events
Organization of study materials
Attending staff meetings
Provide In-service trainings with physicians, nurses and support staff about protocol requirements
Serve as a liaison between PI's and study sponsors
Serves as a liaison with pharmacy and research pharmacy
All other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required plus four years of related experience
Must have at least 3 plus years of previous related work experience in pediatrics.
Registered Nurse License-NYS, maintain and renew when necessary
Able to function independently with minimal supervision
Has excellent organizational and analytical skills and a high degree of flexibility
Has excellent written and oral communication skills
Light Level of Physical Activity Required
