Provide advanced support of cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new, modifying, and supporting existing software applications. Undertake complex projects requiring specialized technical knowledge and innovative thinking.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct work flow study and analysis of business practices.
Analyze and document existing processes as they relate to information technology solutions.
Code, monitor, maintain, test, and debug software applications.
Follow established change management processes.
Facilitate code reviews and enforce code standards.
Develop and execute test plan development.
Research and evaluate new technology, products, specialized hardware and tools to optimize development and functionality of applications.
Serve as mentor to Application Developers I and II.
Assist in ensuring team members complete tasks as assigned, taking corrective action to stay on schedule.
Support complex operational activities and recoveries.
Coordinate with software vendors and external service providers.
Troubleshoot escalated software bugs and provide fixes.
Provide off hours support, as needed.
Provide, cultivate and foster excellent customer service.
Enforce adherence to departmental standards.
Instruct, train, and guide less experienced staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, plus five to seven years of relevant technology experience or an equivalent combination of education & experience.
Bachelor’s in a technical discipline.
Seven years of relevant technology experience.
Prior experience in a higher education technology environment.
Advanced technical knowledge of application systems and analysis, as well as industry best practices.
Ability to research and implement new technologies in specialty or related areas.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Ability to champion continual improvement of internal processes and procedures.
Ability to consult with clients and higher level technicians and analysts to resolve technical problems and ensure customer satisfaction.
Ability to interact with customers to discuss and recommend alternative technical solutions.
Ability to work extra hours and recognize the need to do so.
Ability to adjust scheduled time.
Ability to adjust to change and demands on time.
Experience using UNIX/Linux and Bash.
Strong understanding of Docker and other container technologies.
Familiarity Job Schedulers for Compute Clusters, such as LSZ.
Familiarity with Cloud technologies, especially Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
Experience mentoring and pairing with other developers.
Experience creating design documents and requirements documents.
The hiring range for this position is $71,323 - $92,789 annually.
