Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Research Coordinator for the Northern State Prison Facility located in Newark, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Coordinator oversees protocols for clinical trails.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
Responsible for all aspects of recruitment, screening, randomization, study visits, and administration of all study assessments and diagnostic measurements.
Maintains and inputs all data from study visits, as well as provides the site PI, Project Manager, collaborative study sites, and sponsor with regular enrollment logs and data tables.
Collects drug specimen kits.
Reports serious adverse effects (SAEs) to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and study sponsor.
Provides visit specific case report forms, receives and reviews study needs and interviews patients and requests labs as required.
Assists the PI in developing study patient consent forms and applications to the IRB.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree plus three (3) years of experience in similar activities in scientific research or a Master's Degree plus two (2) years of experience as indicated.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to speak clearly and write proficently is essential.
Experience providing clinical treatment to and management of persons with Opioid Use Disorder is strongly preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by Rutgers in shared office environments. Ability to move from unit to unit within facilities requiring walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls. Lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
Able to function in a stressful environment and relate well to the patients, security staff and health care team members. A generally crisis oriented, secure environment working with adults, some who exhibit aggressive, threatening and assaultive behaviors. Must be able to maneuver around architectural barriers and obstructions found in a prison environment. Entering and movement within the facility will be controlled by NJ State Parole Board, NJ State Troopers or Rutgers.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
Must possess own vehicle or have alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
