The University Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF) at the University of Michigan is excited to offer a full-time twelve-month Post-MSW Fellowship. This is an advanced clinical training program beginning September 1, 2021 and ending August 31, 2022 with an opportunity to extend for a second year. The mission of this Post-MSW training program is to advance practice competency, professionalism, and leadership in the field of clinical social work and designed for a clinical social worker with a limited license in the state of Michigan.
The Fellow has an opportunity to advance and deepen clinical skills using a brief therapy model, as well as an opportunity to gain some longer-term psychotherapy experience. Evidence-based interventions are emphasized during the training program. The supervisory staff at UCCF offers expertise in early childhood interventions; cognitive-behavioral interventions for youth depression, anxiety, and trauma; Autism Spectrum disorders; parent management training; emotion-regulation and mindfulness; psycho-educational testing and school consultation; family therapy approaches. Fellows will gain supervised experience providing diagnostic assessments, brief psychotherapy, outreach, case management, and crisis intervention. Infused throughout the fellowship are additional experiences in consultation and interdisciplinary collaboration, multicultural and diversity competencies, professional development, ethics, developing and facilitating groups, and leadership/administrative skills. Licensed clinical social workers will primarily supervise Fellows, with additional supervision provided by licensed psychologists. The Fellow will have opportunities to supervise social work students, engage in clinical teaching as a part of a training plan, and carry a caseload integrating diversity and cultural issues along with a wide range of presenting concerns.
UCCF is interested in applicants who have direct clinical experience using evidence-based interventions with children across the developmental spectrum and families from diverse backgrounds, as well as telehealth with children and families.
The Fellowship offers a stipend of $29,000. Comprehensive health care through the University of Michigan is available. Eligible applicants must have satisfactorily completed an accredited Social Work Master’s Program and hold a Limited License in Social Work in the State of Michigan (LLMSW).
