The The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences web team at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Systems Analyst II. This position will assist planning, development, improvement, and maintenance of information systems for the University's sites.iastate.edu web platform.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to; analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving software issues, developing novel software solutions that benefit the Iowa State University community, integrating software with existing campus information systems, analyzing requirements from diverse stakeholders including academic researchers and scientific staff and creating relevant code, and working in a team-based environment to discover and implement best practices.
The successful candidate will have the ability to explain complex technological concepts and software abstractions in terms that others can understand, along with an ability to ensure timely completion of software development tasks. The successful candidate will have the ability to clearly articulate code strategy and function in external software documentation and internal code comments.
This position is a three-year term.
Example of Duties
â¢ Collects and writes technical requirements for new systems.
â¢ Analyzes and implements an emerging technology that affects Iowa State University campus-wide.
â¢ Modifies, maintains, and updates complex software.
â¢ Prepares and conducts system and programming tests which may require the interfacing of diverse hardware and software.
â¢ Reviews potential applications and designs hardware/software interfaces.
â¢ Implements best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance.
â¢ Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
â¢ Assignments are generally of a difficult technical nature and may involve project leadership activities.
