The Medical Administrative Assistant provides medical and administrative support in areas of patient care in the UTHSC Department of Student Health Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens; logs specimens and prepare them for testing.
Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight and height.
Records patient's medical history, vital statistics or information such as tests results in medical records; explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instruction to patients.
Prepares rooms for patient examinations; shows patients to examination rooms; maintains cleanliness of rooms.
Assists providers with patient exams and treatment; handing provider's instruments or materials or perform such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments; disposes contaminated supplies.
Authorizes drug refills and provides prescription information to pharmacies per provider instructions.
Scans and enters billing, immunizations, and medical data into electronic health records system.
Performs other duties as assigned.
