The Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs reports to the Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs and provides oversight and directions to the GUIDE Mentoring Program staff and students and student organizations affiliated with the Office of Multicultural Affairs (i.e., The Black Student Alliance, The Littleton H. Mason Singers, and The Hispanic Outreach Leadership Association). With direction from the Assistant Director, the Coordinator develops and implements best practices, policies and initiatives designed to enhance the overall growth and development of the mentoring program and student organizations. The Coordinator assists in the creation and promotions of a wide range of services and programs while fostering an increased awareness on campus as to the educational challenges and needs of underrepresented students' populations.
Duties include: Serves as adviser, mentor and advocate for recognized student organizations affiliated with Multicultural Affairs; holds regular one-on-one meetings with organization leadership; provides budget management assistance to student organizations; attends general assembly meetings for affiliated student organizations and oversees any affiliated student organizations sponsored programs and events; develops and facilitates educational workshops for organization officers, presidents, and general members addressing relevant student and community issues; develops, implements, and enforces all University policies, pertaining to student organization membership, reporting, academics etc.; assists with the management of student organization portals on MocSync; develops and implements programs that promote diversity and inclusion within the UTC Community; assesses unique underrepresented student population needs and collaborates with Multicultural Services Staff, campus departments, local, state and federal agencies to develop and implement teaching, learning/support programs that will improve student success.
Functions as a mentor to students connecting them with appropriate internal and external support services and resources; collaborates with faculty, staff, students and community members to promote the Multicultural Center as a hub for promoting diversity, cross cultural understanding and networking; assists in recruitment initiatives for the Office of Multicultural Affairs; responsible for the collection and assessment of data related to the utilization of the Multicultural Center; utilizes university supported software systems to improve student engagement, enrollment, persistence, retention and graduation rates; stays abreast of current trends related to multicultural programming and higher education; attends appropriate University functions and campus events to maintain visibility/approachability; assists with other events/programs sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and other units within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs; serves on office, divisional, and university sponsored program initiatives and committees; establishes positive working relationships with campus partners and key stakeholders; and contributes to the overall success of The Office of Multicultural Affairs by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Demonstrated skills in advising, organizational development, motivating students and conflict resolution
Ability to take initiative and work independently in setting priorities to ensure that responsibilities are carried out in an accurate and timely fashion

Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff and community members of diverse backgrounds
