The Neurology Nurse Triage RN independently plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in the SLUCare Neurology Clinic. The Triage RN delivers, manages and coordinates care and services via telecommunications technology across several platforms.Â This is a new position in the SLUCare Neurology Department and the Triage RN will utilize autonomy and critical thinking skills to collaborate with the clinical staff and providers in developing this position for best practices of the clinic.
Responsibilities include providing professional nursing care for clinic patients following established clinical standards and practice. This RN is responsible for telephone triage, patient flow, coordination of care and will provide education for patients and families.Â This RN will perform phone management with patients including chart review, refills, medication questions, care coordination and problem management across all platforms. The Triage RN applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgement in order to expediate appropriate care and treatment, especially since the patient may present with complex problems or possible life threatening conditions that the RN will use through all technologies. Educates patients in the outpatient clinics; responds to consultations made by physicians.
Performs patient histories and physical examinations under physician supervision; evaluates results and monitors treatment plans; maintains medical records.
Performs patient assessments, sorts patients in priority groups according to guidelines.
Communicates status of patients to providers.
Manages and communicates with patients via telephone and MyChart.
May oversee work of Medical Assistants in the clinic.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Graduate of an approved RN program and Missouri RN licensure required.
Three years experience in neurology, ICU, emergency department, or neurology clinic preferred. EPIC experience preferred.
