The Academic Advisor will advise students in the online NYU Cyber Fellows program (MS in Cybersecurity) on academic curriculum, policies and procedures, along with monitoring academic progress and provide support of at-risk and probation students towards academic performance improvement. The academic advisor will create/implement co-curricular and retention programs for Cyber Fellows students, and assist the student services manager in related duties.
The NYU Cyber Fellows program is a unique, affordable online cybersecurity master’s degree program designed to address the acute shortage of trained, underrepresented technical professionals in the nation. The program is currently offering scholarships of 75 percent off of tuition, bringing the total cost for the rigorous, highly technical education to approximately $16,000 for the entire program.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or other appropriate field.
Required Experience: 2+ years relevant experience in student advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: 2+ years experience advising graduate students at the college or university level. Experience in developing and executing co-curricular programs.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to advise and provide solutions to problems.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of computer science and cybersecurity skills.
