Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Specialist for the Office for Research. As an integral member of the Innovation Ventures team, the Business Specialist is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing processes related to its use of the Inteum database and data integrity management as it relates to intellectual property, agreement management and reporting. More specifically, this role supports the entire organization from the Associate Vice President, Innovation Ventures, the Licensing & IP teams, to all other Innovation Venture team members in ensuring the quality and integrity of all data, timely and accurate reporting of IP & Licensing data, both internally and externally. This role is also responsible for supporting the development and implementation of business processes and standard operating procedures across the various units of the Innovation Ventures team.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Manages all aspects of Inteum database to satisfy needs of the Innovation Ventures organization.
Develops audit processes and procedures to ensure that data is up-to-date and accurate.
Provides continuous education to team members to ensure adoption.
Supports the Associate Director and other team members by providing timely high-level qualitative and quantitative data and trend analysis that supports the strategic planning and operational effectiveness of research commercialization activities university wide.
Produces reports and dashboards relevant to activities of the Innovation Ventures organization including generation and/or distribution to Rutgers leadership, chancellors, deans and department heads.
Assists in development and implementation business processes and standard operating procedures across the various units of Innovation Ventures including IP management, contract management, invoice and revenue management, and marketing.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, communications or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of business operations, data integrity principles and requirements.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience utilizing a variety of business process improvement, data visualization tools and methods to create reports, graphs and dashboards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines.
Excellent communications skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate with all levels of university personnel.
Experience with Inteum or similar IP/licensing data management database, Tableau, Excel and other data management systems.
Experience with drafting Standard Operating Procedures.
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Inteum, ORACLE Cloud, Tableau Software
