The department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine focuses on understanding the underlying mechanisms for studying human disease and leads to high-impact breakthroughs in drug discovery, therapeutics, disease etiology and prevention. The mission is to better understand the underlying mechanisms for studying human disease through research and training that combines basic concepts of biochemistry with wide-ranging interdisciplinary topics. Our program provides hands-on experience in state-of-the-art laboratories to produce high-impact results for treatment, prevention and therapeutics.
Dr. Peggy Farnham is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate to lead a new NIH R01 project. This grant will allow the lab to conduct a detailed analysis of an oncogenic transcription factor that is associated with poor patient survival in a variety of different cancers.
Manage research endeavors, specifically for the NIH-R01 project
Coordinate all aspects of project implementation, evaluation/analysis, and dissemination of study findings
Synthesize existing data and generate manuscript proposals
Serve as the labâs main data manager and analyst.
Draft comprehensive APA-style results sections, including tables, graphs, and figures
Be active in grant-writing and design of new studies
Provide supervision and mentorship for staff and undergraduate research assistants
Doctorate in a molecular biology-related discipline.
Prior experience in producing and analyzing whole genome datasets (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and DNA methylation data).
Prior experience in using CRISPR to produce functional gene knockouts
Prior experience in producing and screening mammalian clonal cell cultures
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral)
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Minimum education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within previous three yearsMinimum experience: 0-1 yearMinimum field of expertise: Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
