Under the supervision of the Dean of Purcell School of Professional Studies, the Director is responsible for the overall administration of the Welcome Back Center. The Director will implement the vision, goals and strategic priorities of the Center, including the recruitment and management of the Center's participants and staff. The Director implements and evaluates all Center activities in accordance with the mission of Le Moyne College. The Director also has primary responsibility for ensuring that the Welcome Back Center is in compliance with specifications of the grantor and its approved guidelines.
The Welcome Back Center is a grant-funded initiative through the Mother Cabrini Foundation seeks to create a bridge between the need for more culturally and linguistically diverse health care professionals and the current, untapped resource of refugees and immigrants trained in health care professions in their countries of origin now living in New York State.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Center staff
Manage the Center's Advisory Board, leading meetings, providing updates about the Center regularly, and updating membership as needed.
Oversee, monitor, and manage all budgeting matters concerning the Center ensuring compliance with the guidelines set by the grant agreement and Le Moyne College.
Write and submit all reports as specified in the grant agreement.
Act as a liaison between community partners, campus stakeholders, and the Center administration.
Ensure that eligible participants are recruited, screened, assessed, and receive appropriate academic/career counseling services.
Plan, develop, and administer Center programming.
Assess and evaluate Center goals and activities.
Recommend changes to current policies and practices as necessary.
Maintain knowledge of and sensitivity to Center's students' needs, progress, development, performance, and accomplishments.
Adapt Center's resources based on participants' needs.
Provide assessment and case management services to participants as necessary.
Supervise the design and maintenance of the Center's record systems.
Create and implement a Center marketing and communication plan.
Update and review recruitment and other promotional and informational materials (website development, brochures, etc.)
Partner with Le Moyne grants office to identify and pursue continued funding opportunities.
Represent Le Moyne in a leadership role within the consortium of fellow Welcome Back Centers nationally.
Master's Degree in education or a related field.
Project management experience.
Experience in grant writing or grant management and reporting.
Minimum of three years budgetary experience.
Ability to represent the Center to prospective participants and the Syracuse community.
Willingness to work a flex schedule including evenings and weekends if necessary.
Ability to work professionally and ethically within a multi-cultural setting, including ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data and communications.
Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with public speaking.
Ability to exercise independent judgment while working in a team-oriented environment.
Experience working and/or training with ESL students is preferred.
Knowledge and/or experience working in the Syracuse community is preferred.
Experience in higher education preferred.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position through the Mother Cabrini Foundation. Funding has been secured through December 31, 2021, but additional funding is being sought to continue the program/position.
