About the Opportunity: The COVID Specimen Collection Nurse will support a small testing site at the Roux Institute. In this role, you will greet and screen faculty, staff, and students, and coach testing participants through an observed swabbing procedure. The RN will need to provide high quality care and answer participant questions. After specimens are collected, the RN will prepare the manifest and work with a courier to ensure that the specimens are transported securely to an offsite lab for analysis.
In addition to specimen collection, you will work with our Roux operations team on fine tuning scheduling, sanitization and waste management operations and protocols, and vendor and supply management.
Training and PPE provided. Compliance with university policies is a condition of employment at the university.
Schedule: Wednesday and Thursday 12:00-6:00pm
Current, unrestricted, Maine Registered Nursing (RN) license required
Experience in human sample collections
Experience in daily management / oversight of diagnostics or specimen collection site preferred
Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making capabilities
Effective, demonstrated communication skills in listening, addressing concerns or issues, and following through in providing leadership under high stress circumstances
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Ability to communicate with staff and patients in a friendly, professional and respectful manner
Excellent organizational skills
Comfortable with rolling up sleeves
