Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biotechnology or related field. Research activity experience. Experience in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures, and using special methods for data collection and interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with extracellular vesicles and immunology, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics. Experience with chromatographic and electrophoretic separation methods. Experience with developing methods/assays and related instrumentation.
Brief Description of Duties: Within defined test or analytical protocols, operate equipment, carry out test procedures, as well as collate and interpret data using special methods in support of a research project or program in the Department of Pharmacology
The ideal candidate will work closely with the PI to investigate the i) role of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates in HIV/SIV induced inflammation and barrier dysfunction, and ii) how the use of illicit drugs alter the composition and functions of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates. The candidate will also assist the PI in managing the lab, ordering reagent, maintaining mouse colony, gas tank, record keeping, and any other duties necessary to keep the lab functioning. The successful candidate will have the ability to multitask
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Conduct experiments; provide technical laboratory support, and/or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.
Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.
Collect data, record observations measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.
Other duties as assigned.
