UW Medical Center-Montlake's Food & Nutrition Services has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (40 hours per week), day shift, FOOD SERVICE WORKER 2 (LEAD). The Food & Nutrition Services Department aims to improve the health of the community by linking evidence-based nutrition to the healthy foods we serve and to the education we provide staff, patients and the community.
SCHEDULE Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm
Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, prepare and serve items for cafeteria meal services.
Ensure food is handled safely and presented attractively.
Maintain sanitation standards in the work area.
Actively contribute to team process and maintain cooperative work environment.
Work to improve quality of food and services provided to customers.
Lead the serving of customers on the hot food line and the grill at all times.
Promotes positive public relations and helps create a relaxing, enjoyable environment.
Carry out responsibilities in an efficient, friendly, helpful and sensitive manner
Take cash payment for meals
Heat and dish hot foods for Late Evening Meal Service
Grill Items for early breakfast service
Request routine repairs
Work independently 95% of the time
Lead food service workers in operation of a remote food service area such as a snack bar counter, ice creamery, or soda fountain
Participate directly in food preparation and serving; Maintain quality and portion control and ensure use of standardized recipes and formulae
Prepare and serve specialty drinks hot or cold
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
REQUIREMENTS Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler's permit AND one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving or equivalent education/experience.
