The UW MEDICINE TELEHEALTH department has an outstanding opportunity for a PROGRAM MANAGER FOR eCONSULT & DIGITAL CONSULTATIONS.
The UW Medicine Program Manager for eConsult and Digital Consultations will provide management for the successful operations of key programs within the UW Medicine Telehealth strategy, such as (but not limited to) eConsult, 2nd opinion services, external provider-to-provider consultations, and digital consultations. eConsult is a store-and-forward, provider-to-provider digital consult model. In addition to traditional eConsults, we are expanding our consult services to partner facilities and providers to further increase digital access to UWM specialty care across the region.
The Program Manager for eConsult & Digital Consultations will be responsible for the successful operational management; product growth, development, and evaluation; as well as other programmatic strategies that improve patient access, increase capacity for specialty care and advance the knowledge and skills of healthcare providers.
The ideal candidate will possess strong operational and project management skills, a high degree of attention to detail and accountability, critical-thinking skills, and have excellent communication skills. Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategy for digital consultation initiatives with internal and external stakeholders, ongoing management of programmatic operations, and support for project management related to new projects as well as process improvement efforts in existing offerings.
A successful candidate must have the ability to build and maintain strategic and effective working relationships with executives, administrators, faculty, and program staff. This candidate must be able to communicate effectively across various perspectives, experiences, and knowledge bases. Activities involve significant teamwork, strategic thinking, high levels of collaboration and effective communication, including leading and facilitating effective meetings. The ability to work across organizational boundaries is necessary.
The Program Manager needs to gain an understanding of multiple organizational processes related to assigned projects and be able to navigate complex, cross-organizational processes. The position will work closely with UW Medicine and external leadership including health system executives, technology leaders, physician leaders, faculty, division administrators, department managers, advancement, and staff. They must maintain confidentiality and positive working relationships with all levels of the organization.
The Program Manager will support the implementation of approved programmatic strategies to improve access and service to patients, increase market share, meet community needs, achieve quality, safety and operating plan goals, and create a sustainable business model.
The PROGRAM MANAGER FOR eCONSULT & DIGITAL CONSULTATIONS will:
Manage ongoing operations for the UW Medicine digital consultation programs, including tracking of success of existing programs
Support design and roll out of new services and partnerships for existing eConsult offerings, including assessment & vetting of project requests
Support quality improvement, evaluation, and reporting processes for all initiatives in the program
Develop the strategy for program expansion, including business plan, resource requirements and implementation plan in alignment with organizational strategy, design, develop and implement new products and services
Support strategic planning for innovative approaches for digital consultation initiatives and platforms to support additional models of digital consult services
Develop and lead project plans to support digital consultation initiatives to successfully meet identified goals & parameters.
Supervise Telehealth Project Managers supporting assigned digital consultation projects.
Serve as subject matter expert in eConsult and digital consultation modalities in work with executives, leadership, and faculty, across the UW Medicine health system and with external partners
Collaborate closely with the analysts, clinical/non-clinical leaders, and other shared service teams (e.g., UW Medicine Finance, UW Medicine IT Services). Drive groups to outcomes and ensure deadlines are met
Bachelor's Degree in related field
5-8 years of experience in project management (preferably in a healthcare setting)
Experience with clinical operations/ program management
Experience with strategic planning, project portfolio management or related organizational management responsibilities
Extensive experience in facilitating large meetings, demonstrating the ability to lead to outcomes
Excellent analytic skills with the ability to develop, assess and implement at all phases of a project
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to develop and deliver communications to individuals at all levels within UW Medicine, including executives
Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships and manage teams under tight time constraints
Customer-service focused, with ability to adjust style to work with a variety of individuals and perspectives
Resilient, agile, and able to work in a dynamic environment and under pressure
Experience making independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within scope of responsibilities
Ability to function as a project management SME & drive best practice/infrastructure development
Significant and demonstrated experience using MS Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook DESIRED:
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Communications, or related field
Experience working in an academic health system or other similar complex health system
Clinical background or licensure
Understanding of healthcare industry trends
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position demands regularly require work week in excess of 40 hours. Frequent travel between UW Medicine entities
