UWMC - Montlake serves a wide variety of patient populations all of which our Vascular Access Team supports including: •Inpatient acute care •Inpatient critical care •Outpatient areas: Clinics, Limited Stay, ED, & Infusion Areas
In addition to Med/Surg patient populations, UWMC cares for a variety of specialty patient populations including: •Cardiology •Oncology including Stem Cell Transplant •High risk Maternal Infant Care •Solid organ transplant
SCHEDULE Department Hours of Service: 0700-1930. This position will primarily be an 8hr position, with shifts scheduled from 1100-1930. The per diem position can flex to a variety of shift lengths – 8hr, 10hr, or 12hr depending on department needs and always within the timeframe of 0700-1930.
Placement of complex peripheral venous access, including ultrasound-guided PIV insertion.
Consultation for all CVC troubleshooting including PICC, non-tunneled CVCs, tunneled CVCs, HD catheters, port-a-caths etc.
Monitoring CVC insertion in acute care departments.
Consult with medical providers to provide patients with appropriate venous access while supporting vein preservation
Formal and informal vascular access teaching opportunities
Out of scope:
PICC insertion training
REQUIREMENTS Requires at least two years current/recent Med-Surg experience, excellent IV insertion skills. BLS required.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS Washington State RN license required by start date.
