Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory analyses and specimen preparations for the purpose of research. Assists in the use of specialized laboratory equipment, particularly LC/MS, and analysis of data generated by this equipment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Lab Duties: According to established protocols, good laboratory practices (GLPs) and assigned schedules, performs a variety of routine laboratory analyses and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment. Receive and handle biological samples. Disposes of specimens, media and other materials using appropriate procedures. Maintains equipment, lab area and supplies in a neat professional manner, and coordinate instrument repair and maintenance.
Method Development: Conducts literature searches and reviews, compiling information for journals and suggesting uses for new techniques to the supervisor. Implementing new procedures and protocols and troubleshoots procedures if results are unexpected or for validation purposes
Documentation and Record-keeping: Record and cross-check results for completeness and accuracy. Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as experiment progress.
Communication/Teamwork: Exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greets visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. Provides positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations. Contributes to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations.
Maintain and update technical knowledge.
Minimum Qualification Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy or a closely related field, and some lab experience. Work requires the analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field. Experience operating HPLC or LCMS instruments(Waters' preferred). Experience with preparing biological samples for LCMS including but not limited to protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction, solid phase extraction techniques. Experience with HPLC or LCMS(preferred) method development. Qualified candidates must be able to work independently and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
