The Executive Assistant works with OGC attorneys and their clients throughout the University in support of the functions in the OGC. The Executive Assistant performs legal work under the supervision of the General Counsel and other attorneys to include such duties as review of various governance policy and regulatory documents; preparation, review, and negotiation of legal documents (primarily contracts related to instructional agreements). Other duties may include proofreading legal documents for substance; researching University policies and records, assisting attorneys with preparations of presentations and documents for the UNCG Board of Trustee meeting items to include agenda items and committee minutes. The position applies a comprehensive knowledge of accounting, budget, and business management practices to the unique and specialized services provided to the University by the Office of General Counsel. The legal environment is becoming increasingly complex with greater scrutiny being given to academic and administrative decisions by federal and state regulators, the courts, and the media. The Office of General Counsel regularly responds to inquiries and investigations by OCR, OFCCP, OSHA, IRS, EPA, EEOC, and various state agencies especially the Office of Administrative Hearings and the Office of State Human Resources. The position oversees activities that interface with and impact other functional areas across the University. This position provides significant administrative and managerial support for the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Associate and Assistant General Counsels in all matters of litigation, research, law office management, legal audits, policy drafting and editing, business administration, instructional and clinical agreement review/revision/negotiation, and in dealing with the various constituencies with whom the General Counsel must work.
