Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Division of Plastic Surgery has a postdoctoral position open in a cutting-edge Neuromuscular Biomaterials Laboratory. The candidate will lead studies in the following areas: 1) design and evaluation of bioactive 3D printed scaffolds for peripheral nerve regeneration in vitro and in vivo 2) design and evaluation of bioactive 3D printed scaffolds for muscle tissue engineering in vitro and in vivo. Candidates must be highly self-motivated with PhD or MD and strong background in multidisciplinary bench research. Experience in animal models is required. Individuals with US citizenship or permanent residence are Preferred. Competitive salary and benefit package.
To conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments on bioactive 3D-printed biomaterial scaffolds.
To write grants and compete for funding.
To supervise students and other techs working in the lab.
To help write and contribute to publications resulting from research done in the lab.
Performs other duties as assigned
PhD or MD with training in biomedical engineering or muscle/nerve physiology.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Competent with tissue and cell culture.
Competent with basic biologic and chemical techniques.
Competent with basic rodent handling.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
PhD or MD with hands-on experience in biomaterials, 3D-printing, muscle or nerve physiology.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Competent with immunostaining and imaging.
Familiar with principles of ELISA and RT-PCR.
