The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Iowa State University is currently seeking applications for a Student Services Specialist I. This position will primarily focus on undergraduate student retention with an emphasis on diverse populations.
This position will be responsible for the emergency student funding program, including student communications, partner funding communications, and tracking student success. This position will work with underrepresented populations in CALS (minority student populations, first-generation students, students identifying as LGBTQIA+, veterans, etc.) to assist developing support programs and community-building strategies (Learning Communities, student organizations, etc.) and work closely as a team member on these programs.Â This position will assist in active development and supporting novel recruitment strategies for these populations, including enhancing some of the novel initiatives that have been started with Native-American populations.
The successful candidate will exhibit outstanding written and oral communication skills. In addition, the candidate will posses the ability to understand and be sensitive to the needs of all undergraduate students. The successful candidate will have the ability to work as a member in a collaborative environment.
Summary Provides direct services and/or programming to students.
Example of Duties â¢ Provides guidance, counseling, and resources to students for a variety of services. â¢ Delivers services and/or programming for students such as scholarship coordination, disability services, academic success programs, and resources, etc. â¢ Advises students on policies and procedures. â¢ Refers students to appropriate resources.
