The healthcare studies department at Salem State University is seeking a full-time, temporary faculty member beginning Fall 2021. Teaching assignments will vary based on the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs, but may include career focused courses, academic and professional writing, research and internships. The ideal candidate will work as a collaborative faculty member committed to academic excellence, innovation and student success.

Located 15 miles north of Boston, the healthcare studies department houses one of the newest degree programs on campus, with over 200 majors enrolled as we complete our fifth year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with theMSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
An earned doctorate degree (or ABD with significant progress can be considered) in a healthcare related field
Experience in and demonstrated commitment to full time teaching, internships and field experiences, research, advising, and mentoring of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
Experience in and demonstrated ability to work with a team and collaborate across disciplines
An area of expertise that includes health care information and information systems, health insurance, managed care, practical (field-based) health administration experience, experience working with community-based health organizations or public health.

Preferred candidates will have demonstrated interest in civic learning and civic engagement pedagogies
Experience in and enthusiasm for teaching in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
Experience using instructional technologies, teaching face-to-face, hybrid (partially online), and remote classes and academic advising
