Provides technical support to students in teaching laboratories and Makerspaces within, or shared by, the Department of Electrical Engineering. Support includes promotion, operation, and maintenance of, and within, the laboratories.
Interaction with students and faculty, in conveying knowledge and skills in effective use of technical instruments and associated components, in order to assist students with their design projects. Instruments may include Power Supplies, DMM’s, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, components, microcontrollers. Equipment skills may include 3D printers, PCB mills, laser cutters, through-hole platers, etc. Ability to specify components and instruments for the laboratory and makerspaces, including purchasing associated with day-to-day lab activities. Perform yearly inventory duties, maintain room, asset and equipment custodian information. Surplus equipment according to UTA policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma. Five (5) years of experience in developmental or industrial engineering including instrument fabrication. Three (3) years of related experience with two (2) years of college or the equivalent experience.
Associate’s degree in a related technical field. Experience working with and training others on use of specific instruments and software, including PCB mills, laser cutters, saws, through-hole platers, CNC mills, 3D printers and materials, Microsoft Office/365, PCB design software, CAD/CAM software.
