Position Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Clinical Faculty

The School of Nursing (SON) at the University at Buffalo invites applicants for a Clinical Faculty position. This is a full time (12 month) appointment to teach in the SON in both the undergraduate, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) programs.
Responsibilities include classroom and online didactic teaching, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating students in clinical and simulated learning environments. Position involves planning, developing and implementing evidence-based, innovative, and interactive learning experiences for the adult learner across classroom and clinical learning environments for undergraduate, doctor of nursing practice (DNP), post-masters (DNP), and post-masters certificate students.
Duties also include:
Maintaining clinical nursing expertise and adheres to ethical and professional nursing standards of practice.
Compliance with State, University, Clinical Agency, and professional regulations/requirements.
Effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, across the spectrum with students, faculty, and interdisciplinary roles.
Collaborating with faculty to plan, design, implement, and lead classroom, laboratory/simulated, and community practical student learning experiences.
Establishing collaborative and positive working relationships that respect the dignity, worth, and culture of students, faculty, staff, colleagues, peers, patients, families, communities, agency nurse managers, and interdisciplinary agency teams and staff. Participates in agency/organizational/unit orientations.
Serving as a professional role model and mentor to facilitate and ensure the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning experiences.
Assisting students with the transfer, utilization, and synthesis of knowledge into current learning activities and practical experiences through establishment of physical and emotional environments conducive to effective teaching and learning.
Establishing early intervention/remediation through specific written guidance and referral for activities to facilitate academic success in students demonstrating unsafe advanced nursing practice and/or who lack clinical preparation.

Terminal degree in PhD or DNP program and advanced practice graduate degree from an accredited School of Nursing and national certification as a PMHNP.
Current New York State licensure as a RN and PMHNP with prescriptive authority mandatory.
Minimum of two years clinical experience as a NP. Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multidisciplinary healthcare team member are essential for care across the lifespan.
Must maintain currency in clinical practice.
Experience with diverse populations and a commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
Previous experience teaching in classroom and online environments.
