Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-time Senior Technician to join the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center in the Yamashita Laboratory. Research in our laboratory focuses on the molecular basis of HIV-1 replication. Seeking highly motivated candidate(s) interested in a career in medicine and/or scientific research. The incumbent will report to the Principal Investigator (PI).
Assists post-doctoral fellows/associates and PI in laboratories.
Performs virology and molecular biology assays.
Processes blood specimens.
Maintains the integrity of the laboratory database.
Oversees the integrity of the equipment.
Collaborates with the overall function of the laboratory and its workflow.
Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Meticulous, attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
Well organized and good time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Must be able to work in an orderly manner and in accordance with all safety regulations.
