Research Nurse - Clinical Research Center - 2101116
The Research Nurse for the Clinical Research Center is responsible for the clinical protocol management reviews for active protocols, this in large part includes the review and confirmation of patient eligibility, data collection, and patient evaluation/assessment identification.
Duties of a Research Nurse for the Clinical Research Center may include the following but are not limited to:
Assists in the informed consent process.
Performs phlebotomy, Intravenous infusions, EKG's and process blood and/or urine specimens as required by research protocols.
Coordinates patient clinical appointments and registration for patients visiting the Clinical Research Center.
Maintains certification for IRB training in the Protection of Human Subjects (CITI Program)
Performs documentation and collection of source data.
Adheres to ethical practices during the conduct of trials to ensure patient safety and collection of data.
Reviews present protocol patients on therapy to assure toxicity and response to treatment. Follows and maintains records on protocol patients for the duration of the study. Ensures that treatment, evaluation, and dosing modifications are administered per protocols.
Patient/Staff Education- Educates patients and families, as well as staff on the research process and investigational drugs.
In collaborations with the Clinical Trials Center, it is responsible for reporting all adverse drug reactions to the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), Institutional Review Board (IRB), or sponsoring drug company. Acts as a resource person and coordinates between Stony Brook principal investigators, and drug companies for protocol monitoring and information.
Participate in feasibility reviews and site visits of potential studies
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment needed for clinical care of study patients.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
In Lieu of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, at least 5 years of experience in Clinical Research
NYS RN License with at least 3 years of nursing in acute care.
Minimum 1 year research experience
Driver's license for travel between offices
CITI training required
1 year pediatric experience
2 or more years research experience
