The Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach is responsible for the organization and administration of all aspects of the tennis programs including staff supervision, teaching and implementing skills and strategy, recruiting, budget development, scheduling and implementation of NCAA, conference and institutional policy and regulations.
The Athletics and Recreation Department is committed to providing a wide range of activities and services that assist Pratt students of various backgrounds and abilities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Key responsibilities include:
Direct the men's and women's tennis program by coordinating and completing the following: recruitment and retention of student-athletes, practice sessions, contest preparation, contest management and administrative duties.
Recruit and retain student athletes that can meet Pratt's academic admissions standards and sustain or enhance the competitiveness of the program.
Work to support the academic success of student-athletes and to monitor their academic performance.
Submit and manage team roster in accordance with Department of Athletics and Recreation regulations.
Collaborate with athletic training staff for documentation and appropriate care of injuries.
Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, Conference and Pratt Institute.
Develop specific duties for the assistant coach that aid in the overall success of the program, ensure that they adhere to their established performance program and evaluate their performance at the conclusion of the season or year.
Complete administrative duties within deadlines established by the Director of Athletics and Recreation, including pre-trip and post-trip meal, hotel and transportation arrangements and receipting for both team and recruitment travel, monthly assessment data.
Consult and assist the Director of Athletics and Recreation in department and team fundraising activities.
Maintain equipment throughout the year and inventory equipment at the end of the season.
Maintain applicable health and safety certifications (i.e. CPR, AED, first aid).'
Participate in continuing education through professional development opportunities.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field, Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: Two years of coaching experience at the club, high school or college level.
Must demonstrate integrity and the ability to inspire students and athletes to perform at a high level.
Demonstrated understanding of an academically rigorous institution, particularly the demands of art and design programs.
Self-Starter with a vision and sense of creativity to develop a recruiting system and program philosophy that delivers athletic excellence and efficiency at Pratt Institute.
Ability to work well in diverse environment.
License: Valid NYS Driver's License.
