Assistant Director of Student Involvement for Intercultural Education and Engagement (IEE) University of South Carolina Upstate STA00248PO21 Spartanburg, SC
The Assistant Director of Student Involvement for Intercultural Education and Engagement (IEE) supports the creation of an inclusive campus environment. This position provides advocacy and support for historically underrepresented and marginalized student populations and is responsible for the development of programs that assist in their retention and matriculation. Additionally, this position is tasked with creating programs, events, and workshops that increase the campus community's understanding of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
Plans, coordinates, and evaluates cultural events, including history/heritage month-long programming. Collaborates with student organizations, departments, and community partners to plan and implement educational workshops, cultural performances, and other experiences that raise awareness, celebrate, and support diversity and inclusion.
Manages the IEE program budget and allocation of funding for student sponsored intercultural programs. Including but not limited to consistent balance analysis and measurement, maintaining financial records, submitting purchase requests, and contract negotiations.
Supports identity-affirming student organizations including Black Student Leaders (BSL), Hispanic Awareness Association (HAA), and Spectrum, Common Ground, NAACP and Strength in Numbers as well as the faith, spirituality, and belief-based registered student organizations.
Coordinates and facilitates Safe Zone and other inclusion and equity based training for students, faculty, and staff. Trainings are both available upon request for student organizations and classrooms and hosted on throughout the academic year for individuals.
Designs and executes marketing and awareness promotion campaigns related to history/heritage months and intercultural opportunities in the community at large via multiple mediums including Presence portal, printed publications, displays, email, food service and social media.
Other duties as assigned including work within leadership development initiatives.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience. Requires a valid driver’s license, good driving record and successful background check.
