Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of the Practical Nursing skills laboratories at the Plainfield Campus under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. He/she will be responsible for managing the laboratories and updating inventory lists.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize and manage the Nursing lab in coordination with the Practical Nursing faculty and academic specialists to ensure a smooth operation of the Practical Nursing laboratories,
Coordinate the nursing lab scheduling to ensure maximum access to and utilization by students.
Assist faculty and academic specialist in preparing all materials for skilled lab, demonstration, and competency testing.
Perform student competency testing, re-testing and remediation of skills.
Provide hands-on tutoring support in the nursing skills lab in preparation for clinical practice
Follow protocols developed by clinical and didactic faculty to provide practice opportunities for students, prepare lab for student test-off sessions as necessary and provide remediation opportunities for students.
Prepare supplies, equipment, and set up skills and health assessment labs for faculty demonstrations, teaching, and competency testing.
Maintain open lab hours for students' review and practice of nursing skills.
Oversee the weekly organization and cleanliness of labs.
Maintain sufficient amount of consumable supplies for health assessment and skills.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment in skills lab and health assessment labs each semester and manages the storage rooms in an orderly manner.
Ensure routine maintenance, upgrades, repair and replacement of skills and health assessment laboratory equipment and supplies.
Ensure the safe storage, collection, and disposal of hazardous and waste materials according to according to "New Jersey Right to Know Act
