Under supervision, the incumbent will conduct molecular, cellular and biochemical experiments to explore sialic acid biology in neuro-inflammation and neuro-oncology. The incumbent must be able to perform SDS-PAGE, Western immunobloting, ELISAs, RNA isolation and RT-qPCR, maintenance and conduct experiments using cell culture and help with general lab maintenance. The incumbent will help analyzing data and creating figures necessary for grant and manuscript.
Theoretical knowledge in Molecular and cellular biology, and biochemistry.
Experiences working with animals (mice).
Experience with immunocytochemical assays, Western blots.
Laboratory experience for staining witth (DAB and fluorescence).
Experience in methods of data analysis.
Experience with routine culture techniques, sterilization, and proper disposal of tissue culture waste.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills that facilitate professional, effective, and courteous interaction with a diverse population.
Good computer skills using network systems and web based databases. Experience creating and maintaining databases.
Knowledge of immunology or cancer biology.
Experience with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Experience with fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).
