York College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks applicants for a full-time Lecturer position in the Department of Health Professions in the Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) program. The anticipated start date is Fall 2021.
York College is a senior college of CUNY, located in Queens, NY, the most ethnically diverse borough of NYC. York's CLS program resides within the York College School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs and has been recently reaccredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) for 10 years, through April 2030.
Teaching faculty perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise, as well as sharing responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions such as visits to clinical sites. The Lecturer title is a tenure-bearing (certificate of continuous employment) title used for full-time members of the faculty who are hired to teach and perform related faculty functions, but do not have a research commitment. Responsibilities also include assessment-related activities to satisfy college and accreditation requirements. She/he will participate in development and assessment of curricular content, student advisement and will teach in areas of expertise. The successful candidate will be involved in student recruitment and admissions activities; provide service to the College and the Health Professions Department. Additionally, candidates must be available to teach evenings, and/or weekends and will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Clinical Laboratory Science, which may include Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Immunoserology, Urinalysis/Body Fluids, Molecular Diagnostics, Microbiology and Immunohematology.

The minimum qualification for the Lecturer rank is the Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
An MS degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent and ASCP MLS (or MT certification) is highly preferred. Preferred applicants will have a minimum five years' experience as a clinical laboratory technologist, at least one year of experience teaching CLS coursework or other experience training laboratory technologists, and a clear research direction. Also required is the ability to teach effectively, demonstrate scholarship or achievement and ability to provide a broad variety of service as a professional. PhD in a related area or an advanced ASCP certification is also highly preferred.
