The Laboratory Medicine Technician will be responsible for:
Performing pre-analytical specimen preparation including: stamping in specs and verifying ID, identifying appropriate tests, evaluating specimen quality and test set-up.
Preparing tests for send out and special requests.
Performing computer functions including: order entry, result entry, inquiries and worksheet/report maintenance.
Performing waived and moderately complex lab tests under the direction of supervisor.
Performing daily QC and routine evaluation of lab instrumentation and prepares reagents as necessary.
Providing courteous and timely customer service to providers calling lab. Handles more complex inquiries.
Maintaining workplace in a neat and orderly fashion. Monitoring supply inventory to keep work area adequately stocked.
Participating in departmental continuous improvement programs as necessary.
To qualify, you must have:
A high school level of educational development and up to one year of basic technical training and six to twelve months of previous experience.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
The ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.
