The Senior Associate Director of Creative Services oversees the design and multimedia direction and portfolio of the Advancement Communications and Marketing Team. Reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications and Marketing, the Senior Associate Director is an experienced graphic and digital designer who oversees a team of designers and multimedia producers and is responsible for the ideation, coordination, and execution of content focused on philanthropic impact and alumni engagement. The Senior Associate Director plays a central role in developing strategic solutions that align with partners' goals and objectives--drawing upon a firm understanding of graphic design, videography, photography, and content--to deliver communications that articulate a consistent identity and vision across a variety of media.
The Senior Associate Director leads the design and branding direction across a wide spectrum: from social media posts and direct mail appeals to custom donor proposals/gifts and high-impact publications and has experience creating a visual experience for a variety of audiences. The Senior Associate Director will design flagship projects, such as Beacon magazine, and ensure that all work produced by the team is high-quality and connected to a larger brand and design standards. The Senior Associate Director will carry a portfolio of graphic design assignments, in addition to managing the work flow and performance of the other team members. The Senior Associate Director will build partnerships on the team with the digital, content, and project management leaders, as well as with internal staff in University Advancement and external partners at the University and beyond. The Senior Associate Director maintains the production, visual, and graphic standards ensuring the highest possible quality and consistency in look and feel for all projects, and s/he ensures compliance with style guidelines and visual format requirements from all contributors.
*Manages a team of designers and multimedia producers, including assigning projects, reviewing work produced, coaching growth and skill development, and maintaining consistent quality design across all content created *Manages own portfolio of print and digital design projects and participate in strategic brainstorming sessions *Seeks inspiration beyond higher education with a vision for industry innovation and shares knowledge with colleagues regarding emerging trends in design, multimedia, and branding. Keeps up to date on current professional activities (software and technology training, graphic design seminars, etc.). *Leads concepting and oversees design for both broad engagement touch points and custom, high-impact materials and multimedia *Hires and directs outside vendors as appropriate on projects, including freelancers, and other production staff. Serves in an advisory role to creative partner agencies and vendors to ensure that all creative deliverables are on brand and of high quality. *Develop strategy for how to maximize existing communication platforms and publications to have the greatest visual and brand impact possible *Learning and applying the Boston College style and institutional brand across various segments, constituencies, and publications *Working with University Advancement stakeholders to source images, videos, and other assets to help meet each fundraising unit's editorial needs, as well as understanding business objectives and audience demographics *Maintain high standards of design and visual branding and exercise quality control while working on multiple projects simultaneously

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience working as a designer, preferably in a development-related environment, as well as experience managing a team. Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, web design, CSS, HTML, and video editing software required. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize under pressure, and can adapt to frequent changes and feedback. Candidates will be required to submit a portfolio that includes print and digital work.
