Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Medical Service Assistant for the Central Practice Operations in the Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor/Assistant Nurse Manager, the Medical Services Assistant will perform administrative and clinical tasks as assigned to support effective and efficient office operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Implements patient experience techniques in all patient interactions, in-person, telephone and telehealth visits.
Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.
Be able to assist with patients who are medically complex and/or have sensitive medical or social issues.
Documents all patient correspondence and correspondence with other pertinent health care providers.
Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reactions to drugs, treatment and significant incidents.
Minimum Education and Experience:
At least one (1) year of relevant experience required, preferably in a medical office setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology.
The ability to function in a team environment.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Completion of medical interpreter training course.
Able to travel to provide coverage at
