The position exists to assist students in achieving their potential and in making sound educational choices. The position also service as the point of contact for all students presenting non-academic barriers. Assisting students with academic advising and course selection in Student Services.
Monitoring student progress and providing necessary interventions to ensure academic success and completion.
Financial aid counseling, assist with filing FAFSA, assist with Financial Aid appeals as necessary.
Academic intervention when student exhibits warning signs.
Refer to other college services as appropriate (SSS, college foundation, etc)
Maintain regular contact with students. One contact every two weeks is suggested, but more or less as the situation dictates.
Document contacts, services provided.
Assist with graduation, outreach, and community and on-campus events, as needed.
Participate in college committees, VCCS workgroups, community groups, as appropriate, and attend Retention Committee meetings and other campus meetings, as assigned.
Meet with faculty members to better understand their academic programs and attend division meetings.
Schedule campus tours at senior institutions for CSCI eligible students.
Additional responsibilities include assisting student services as needed, serving as a faculty liaison for CSCI eligible students, and attending purposeful and meaningful development opportunities that will enhance services provided to students.

Serve student with non-academic barrier needs, such as food insecurity, housing insecurity, assist with government benefits such as SNAP, WIC, etc.
Assist with Cubby Closet Organization.
Assist in building community relationships and expand on community partnerships through attendance of meetings or visits.
Assist students with screenings in the Single Stop database and manage cases, including keeping case notes.
Reach out to students within 24 hours for wrap-around support services.
Reporting as necessary.
Additional duties as assigned.
