SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER , Mechanical Engineering , to manage operations, strategic planning, and implementation of several multi-institution, multi-PI research programs. Will develop and manage strategic and operational plans and systems; serve as the primary point of contact with sub-award institutions, consultants, and MIT collaborators across research programs; communicate with federal, industrial, and foundation sponsors; establish and manage relationships and formal engagements with project partners, including sub-awardees, contractors, and professional service providers; oversee project management of complex research programs; ensure appropriate staffing across research programs; liaise with research administrators within MIT and at collaborating institutions to ensure consistency of proposals between PI's labs and within current research program; evaluate grant solicitations for required components; coordinate, generate, and edit documents for proposals; develop and manage program/project budgets; review and approve items outside planned budget; coordinate with sponsors for new expense needs; coordinate with sponsor financial planners and academic research administrators on projections, shortfalls, and/or surpluses; implement operational activities for program(s), including any combination of administration, finance, information technology (IT), compliance, communications, and outreach; develop recommendations for program(s) process improvements; identify potential new projects and funding opportunities for the team; assist team with preparation of letters of intent, proposals, budgets, statements of work, and related supporting documentation for new proposals; and manage/supervise administrative/project staff members across multiple projects.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree, at least five years of administration/operations and/or project/program management, experience with budget preparation and forecasting, and at least five years of progressively responsible leadership experience. This position is funded in part by a DARPA grant which is not yet awarded. If the team is successful in the proposal process, it is anticipated that the award will be made in April 2021. An offer will be dependent on receipt of the award.
