The Director of Affirmative Action & Senior Investigator serves several critical functions within PSU. The employee will assure compliance with and implementation of federal and state affirmative action plans and a diverse workforce hiring process. Specific AA responsibilities include development of the University's Affirmative Action Plan and coordination of its implementation; monitoring of searches at the advertisement, interview and hire steps, as well as internal promotion and advancement opportunities, and preparation of various internal and external reports.
The Director will work closely with the Vice President, Global Diversity and Inclusion (GDI), AVP of GDI, and AVP HR on recruitment and retention of students, faculty, and staff from underrepresented populations. The incumbent develops, oversees, and/or delivers an array of related programming and workshops. The Director’s duties include investigating complaints of prohibited discrimination, discriminatory harassment, failure to accommodate a disability, and sexual harassment. The Director may serve as a decision-maker for Title IX complaints.

Master's degree or J.D. plus 4 years AA/EEO related management experience involving significant responsibilities in compliance, diversity, civil rights, human rights, social justice, or related.
Knowledge of Title IX of the Education Act, as amended, Title VII, Title VI, the American with Disabilities Amendment Act, Executive order 11246, VEVRAA, and other federal and state civil rights.
At least 3 years of experience serving underrepresented communities.
Experience investigating workplace complaints, including having the ability to conduct neutral investigations and excellent report writing skills.
Experience working in multicultural environments and functions effectively and respectfully within the context of varying cultural beliefs, behaviors, and backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to provide advocacy for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion while remaining a neutral investigator.
Have the growth mindset for professional development.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and productively with others to achieve shared goals within systems and organizations.
Experience influencing compliance for policies or code of conduct, respect in the workplace, applicable policies, procedures, and agreements related to position, department, and/or institution as a whole.
Experience providing multicultural and cultural competence training.
Experience working within higher education or large complex institutions.
Obtained training or education, and experience to understand and apply legislation, law, regulations, policies, and procedures, and perform investigations of alleged violations of laws and internal policy applicable to discrimination and harassment in a university setting, including the completion of Title IX trainings for investigators and decisionmakers (hearing officer training) and the completion of OFFCP Affirmative Action Plan training.
Experience in investigating complaints by or against students.
