VA Connecticut Healthcare System and Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is recruiting an Addiction Psychiatrist with experience and interest in addiction treatment, including detoxification, methadone maintenance, office-based buprenorphine treatment and general psychiatric outpatient work including consultation to primary care at VA CT Healthcare System. This position includes an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Candidates must have clear clinical expertise and extensive training experience in treating substance use disorders, particularly opioid use disorders and candidates also must have scholarly interest and/or experience in the area of addictive behaviors and substance use dependence.
Clinical work will include work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in order to care for individuals with addictive disorders as well as those with psychiatric comorbidity. Clinical work will include pharmacotherapy and may include other behavioral treatments such as group, individual, couples, and/or hospital-based interventions using empirically supported interventions for substance abuse, and common co-occurring disorders and problems. Clinical work also includes tele-mental health; applicants with experience in telehealth preferred.
The individual will also be responsible for teaching residents, medical students and other trainees, and will be responsible for initiating scholarly work related to teaching or research. Research conducted within this position may involve a wide array of topics, including but not limited to studying opioid use disorders and other substance use disorders, multi-morbidities, epidemiology, pharmacologic treatment, psychotherapy development, training, or implementation, and technology-based assessment and treatment approaches. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain research grant funding, conduct independent research, properly manage and administer projects, and collaborate with faculty within VA Connecticut Healthcare System and the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
