The Department of French and Italian at Oberlin College invites applications for the position of Faculty- in-Residence and Lecturer in the Department of French and Italian. This is a full-time, 10-month, live-in position. The appointment will be made for the academic year 2021-2022 beginning September 1, 2021 and will have the possibility of renewal. Appointment will carry the rank of Lecturer.
The incumbent will teach three courses in the general area of language and culture (French and Francophone).
As Faculty-in-Residence at La Maison, a residence hall which houses approximately 35 students, he/she will construct and execute successful programs for residents and visitors for the purpose of supporting the acquisition of French language and understanding of French and Francophone cultures. He/She will promote La Maison through a range of social media including mailing lists, Facebook, and a website and will work with French faculty to build a community of French learners. The incumbent is required to live at La Maison while the College is in session, to dine with students at the Table Française, and to supervise Winter Term projects.

Required educational and experiential qualifications include native or near-native proficiency in French, a broad familiarity with French and Francophone cultures, and the M.A. degree in French or related fields in hand or expected by August 2021. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching at the college level is desirable.
