Function as part of a team to manage patient flow in a fast paced outpatient setting. Duties include but are not limited to the following.
Rooming patients, obtain vital signs, meaningful use and enter into MIChart, prepare and turn over rooms for surgical procedures.
Review surgical procedure, medical history medications and allergies prior to surgery.
Assist with procedure, bandaging, review of post-operative instructions, suture removal. Administering common medications as ordered by physician.
Pathology follow-up from excisions and biopsies. Notify patient of result, review treatment plan per physician result note, schedule and coordinate necessary appointments.
Clean and wrap surgical instruments for sterilization. Deliver and pick up surgical packs from sterilization.
Maintain supplies and linen in surgery rooms.
Transport specimens to pathology.
Participate in monthly staff meetings and biweekly nursing meetings.
Provide for the safety of self and others by adherence to the University safety guidelines, policies, and practices. Help ensure compliance with all such safety-related policies.
Protect and respect patient privacy and provide a secure, comfortable, and welcoming clinic environment.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working, flexible, detail-oriented, and positive minded individual with demonstrated skills in interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to take direction from a multiple number of medical clinicians and supervisor, and work efficiently in a busy environment.
Excellent time management and organizational skills, consistently uses available time effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Participate in in-service programs for the medical staff.
Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
Minimum of one-year medical assisting experience in an ambulatory care clinic setting.
Hours: 40 hours per week, would be variable from 8:00-4:30/8:30-5:00
Day Shift: Monday-Friday, with the possibility of extended hours and Saturday clinics in the future.
