Pathology Administrative Coordinator - Diagnostic Sciences, School of Dental Medicine - (21001161)
The Division of Oral Pathology is one of five divisions within the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). In addition to operating Tufts Oral Pathology Services (TOPS), the school's oral pathology biopsy laboratory, the division is responsible for clinical care of patients with mucosal disease, delivering the oral pathology curriculum to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students, and participating in research activities.
The Pathology Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the needs of TOPS and the Oral Pathology Clinic. This includes preparing and distributing biopsy kits, receiving and accessioning biopsy specimens and delivering them to Tufts Medical Center (TMC), collecting processed glass slides, and sending the final pathology reports to the referring providers. Responsibilities for clinical care include scheduling on-site or virtual appointments, confirming appointments, ensuring the weekly schedules are filled, and keeping patient records current. The Pathology Administrative Coordinator will collaborate with intradepartmental faculty and staff, including the Laboratory Coordinator, the Department Administrator, the Department Dental Assistants, the Department Practice Manager, and TOPS work-study students. Other key responsibilities for the Pathology Administrative Coordinator include managing the calendar for the division and processing appropriate University paperwork.
Requires a Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of related experience OR high school/GED and at least 2+ years of related experience.
Advanced computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel. Knowledge of CoPath and axiUm preferred. Must have experience with patient care software programs.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Experience with medical transcription preferred.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occasional overtime and/or weekend work is required when needed.
